Greetings, everyone! Yes, this Saturday is the 235th anniversary of the signing of our United States Constitution, September 17, 1787. It is the day to remember the document that has transcended time and created the longest-running Constitutional Republic that the world has ever known.
However, at this moment, our constitution, our rule of law, faces its greatest challenge in its 235 year existence. The famous story of an exchange between Benjamin Franklin and a Philadelphia socialite named Mrs. Powell is certainly relevant for us today. Mrs. Powell asked Franklin on the day of the signing as he exited the hall, “well Doctor, what is it that we have, a monarchy or a republic?” Franklin astutely replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” What an incredibly prescient response that rings true to this current time.
The Constitution of these United States of America is a restraining document on the powers of the federal government. Article I, Section 8 of the constitution clearly enumerates the duties, responsibilities, jurisdictions, and purview of the federal government, there are only 17 listed items. The Tenth Amendment to the Constitution states that all the powers not specifically designated to the federal government are reserved to the States and the people. Sadly, we are living in a time when the President of these United States asserts that no amendment to the Constitution is absolute . . . I guess that means I could still be made a slave? Actually, the progressive socialist left does prefer economic enslavement over economic empowerment. Slavery does not have to be physical, it can take a metaphysical form.
The Constitution states, in the Guarantee Clause, that the federal government must protect every State in the Union from invasion . . . yet we have a wide open southern border. Only a deranged and delusional individual would say our border is closed. There is no enumerated power to the Executive branch to decree, order, or mandate that healthy Americans be forced to receive an injection into their body or lose employment. As well, there is no enumerated power to executive officials to declare who, or what, is essential in America and shutdown certain private sector businesses.
The very first liberty we have in our Bill of Rights, the first 10 amendments to the Constitution, is the freedom of religion and the free exercise thereof. Yet, the government declared Churches to be closed, shutdown, under punishment.
Ol’ Ben Franklin also stated, “those who would surrender essential liberty for temporary security, will in the end not deserve liberty nor security.”
Our rule of law does not grant an enumerated power to a president to relieve the private debt obligations of anyone, and put the burden of payment upon American taxpayers.
Of course, I could go on, but you get the idea.
The reason we are experiencing so many egregious violations of our Constitution is because We the People, as a whole, are ignorant of it. We do not teach our Constitution but we certainly are finding lots of cultural Marxism thriving in our institutions of indoctrination. I would love to take a “man on the street” type of survey this Saturday at any college football stadium and ask people what the significance of the day is.
Constitution Day should hold a special meaning for our veterans and those who are serving in uniform. After all, we took an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign, and domestic, and that we would bear true faith and allegiance to the same.
This is why the American Constitutional Rights Union has the Committee to Support and Defend. It is our goal, objective, to create the first and largest constitutional conservative Veterans organization in the country . . . and why not? Didn’t we all take an oath to the Constitution? Unfortunately, we have some veterans, and senior military officers, who have forgotten that. If you are a veteran and truly believe in the oath that you took, join us at the Committee to Support and Defend. No, we are not some radical extremist organization, as the progressive socialist leftists and Marxists would want you to believe. We are those men and women who took an oath to the Constitution and believe it does not have a statute of limitations. We believe in our rule of law and the representative democracy that supports our Republic.
I challenge everyone who reads this missive to tell your family about September 17th, which should be a national holiday! Juneteenth was made a national holiday; why not the day our Constitutional Republic was established? Veterans, I challenge you to join our Committee to Support and Defend. We are Guardians of the Republic, take your post . . . or perhaps you really did not understand the oath that you took which ended with the phrase, “So Help me God.”
