ACRU Editorial: Bloomberg’s Big Money Shenanigans in Virginia

Writing for RealClearPolicy, ACRU/ACRU Action Fund identifies Virginia’s 2019 elections as the canary in the liberal coal mine for the November 2020 elections. Michael Bloomberg spent $2.5 million to turn the state blue by instilling fear in voters about lawful gun ownership—and it worked. Liberals are looking to turn the majority of state governments and the White House blue, and Virginia is now pushing an armful of leftist bills through the legislature after their win. Going forward, their VA plan deserves careful scrutiny.

Chicago Ignores ICE, Releases 1,070 Criminal Aliens

The title of this article (above) says it all. Although we enjoy writing quippy summaries for our Advocate readers, it is difficult to expand on the headline. But we will give it a try - last year Chicago had 490 murders and nearly 2,200 shootings. The list of illegal alien violent crime is long. The FBI has reported that many of the guns available to Chicago criminals come over our southern border illegally, boxed up with cocaine, meth and marijuana, and given to street drug thugs for entrepreneurial enforcement (sarcasm) as Chicago is a hub for drug traffickers. Chicago is refusing not just to honor ICE detainers, but also refusing access to its criminal database. Chicago's corrupt political class is turning its citizens

Gun owners win the day in Richmond

Despite efforts by Virginia Governor Ralph Northam to dishonestly paint lawful gun owners as lunatics and white supremacists, the truth won out in Virginia's capital on Monday, January 20th. Since taking over state government last November, Virginia Democrats have proposed no fewer than 87 gun ownership restrictions. Northam designated "rally square" as gun free, so gun owners cheerfully rallied on the streets outside the cordoned area-with their guns. Northam designated gun owners as a "threat"-so they cheerfully defended their rights with no negative incidents. Thanks to everyone who showed up to defend our freedom and proved once again that the safest place in America is beside a good guy or gal with a gun. Thanks to all the gun owning ladies and their signs noting, "Gun Rights are Women's Rights."

Virginia’s Governor works overtime to demonize gun owners

After years of a significant demographic shift in northern Virginia (and some meddling by outsiders like Michael Bloomberg), Democrats took control of the House of Delegates and State Senate in November 2019 while Democrat Governor Ralph Northam (notorious for his statement that a mother should determine whether her baby lives or not after birth, and for escaping any consequence from his "black face" scandal) has set his sights (irony) on lawful gun owners as enemy number one. As January 20th Virginia Lobby Day approached, thousands of law abiding gun owners headed to Richmond to inform legislators about the Second Amendment. Northam then banned guns in the government areas of Richmond in a state with open carry. With Soros' funded Antifa on its way, Northam stripped the responsible and law abiding of defensive weapons, even with reports of potential bad guys (who don't obey laws) possibly in attendance. Virginia's governor, by tyrannical fiat, endangered his citizens by stripping rights he had no right to strip. The media? Crickets. Jefferson, Madison, Washington and Monroe must be collectively rolling in their patriotic graves.

No. 3 Democrat: Voter ID Laws Helped Killer Cop Gun Down Victim

Did you know that voter-ID cards caused last week's police-involved shooting of an unarmed black man? This incredible revelation comes courtesy of the No. 3 Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives, James Clyburn of South Carolina. Responding to the five bullets that North Charleston police officer Michael Slager fatally fired into the back of a black man named Walter Scott, Mr. Clyburn blamed this bloody mess on none other than the conservative American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and its work for ballot integrity. The U.S. House Assistant Minority Leader, Mr. Clyburn explained to "Hardball" host Chris Matthews, thanks to "ALEX [sic] . . . a climate has been created in the country that's causing these things to occur all over." Clyburn continued: They have drawn up these legislations [sic], pieces of legislation like stand your ground, that legislation gives a license for people to be vigilantes. They are the ones that are drawing up all of these, uh, so-called voter-ID laws. They are the ones that have been drawing up these unfair redistricting plans. These people are a cancer eating at the inners [sic] of our society. So, photo-ID requirements are not just disenfranchising blacks who, supposedly, are incapable of possessing or even requesting them before they visit the polls. Now, voter ID is responsible for gunning down a black man.

Voter ID Terrifies Democrats

The most consequential election in our lifetime is still 10 months away, but it's clear from the Obama administration's order halting South Carolina's new photo ID law that the Democrats already have brought a gun to a knife fight. How else to describe this naked assault on the right of a state to create minimal requirements to curb vote fraud?
