DHS said ICE arrested Danny Granados-Garcia in Waterbury, Connecticut, during a targeted operation on March 10. The statement says Salvadoran authorities want him for the killing of a pastor and that he will remain in ICE custody pending deportation.
ICE said it removed Solomon Bogale to Ethiopia on March 4 after an immigration judge denied him benefits based on evidence that he identified himself online as a member of Fano, which the Ethiopian government designates as a terrorist group. The agency said his posts called for violence and persecution against ethnic Tigrayans.
ICE said its Enforcement and Removal Operations arrested nine people with prior sex crime convictions during a targeted operation in the greater Los Angeles area on Jan. 27 and 28. The agency said those taken into custody will face removal proceedings and described the action as part of its public safety mission.
DHS said Santa Clara County officials refused to honor ICE detainers for two Honduran men arrested in connection with the killing of 24-year-old Kembery Chirinos-Flores in Sunnyvale, California. The statement says both had previously entered the United States illegally and that one was also wanted in New Jersey for a separate homicide.
DHS said ICE arrested David Antonio Aviles Perez in San Diego on March 26, describing him as an MS-13 member wanted in El Salvador on an aggravated murder warrant. The statement says he had also been arrested in California in 2023 on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, drug possession, and petty theft.
DHS said ICE officers made a series of arrests over Easter weekend involving people with prior convictions that included manslaughter, child sexual abuse offenses, assault, stalking, and drug trafficking. The statement highlights multiple cases from states including Florida, California, Texas, Washington, and New York.
DHS said Border Patrol agents in the San Diego Sector arrested two Mexican fugitives with active warrants in Mexico, one for homicide and the other for lewd and lascivious acts involving a child. The agency said both were later turned over to Mexico's federal prosecutors to face those charges.
